Making smart city services accessible to everyone

IMG_2952-1_crop

This project was performed for the master course User Centered Design of New Media, commissioned by the Accessibility Foundation. Smart cities make use of ICT for its citizens, however not always all people are included. This project intends to make smart city services accessible to everyone by designing in an inclusive manner.

The thesis was performed at strategic design agency Fabrique and aims to provide an answer to how eHealth interventions can be designed as a driver for durable behaviour change in relation to physical activity. A habit conceptualisation is proposed by starting small and adopting an identity-oriented focus. Guidelines for design were developed and an application for the issue of behaviour change in relation to physical activity was designed. For the application, tiles from the game Midora were used.
